While art directing the interiors for the freestanding Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital, I illustrated a set of watercolor animal icons to serve as a way-finding system throughout the campus. Our creative team soon realized the animals could become cartoon-style “brand ambassadors” for welcome videos, interactive media, coloring books, and marketing opportunities. I revisited my watercolor icons to develop them into midcentury cartoon characters.
